ACTIVITIES

University residences are an institution with a long-standing tradition in university life.

They offered students much more than just a lodging: they provided a place to exchange knowledge with students from other careers and from different countries, family life with some of their teachers and the opportunity to live their university experience much more deeply.

Nowadays, university residences continue to preserve those ideals that made their birth possible. For this reason, they are committed to taking special care of the academic development of their students, offering them courses, conferences, seminars and other activities that help them develop cross-disciplinary skills and complete their comprehensive training.

At Mater Salvatoris, we have always tried to ensure that our students achieve a mature way of thinking, capable of analysing reality and the information they receive about it with intelligent eyes. Our ultimate aim is to enrich the time of study with an overall view of reality, to broaden the formation received and to contribute in making the life of the University as Alfonso X the Wise said of it: a “town hall of teachers and students with a understanding and willingness to learn all knowledge” (Seven Divisions, Div. II, Tit. XXXI). For this purpose, Mater Salvatoris offers:

  • Courses
  • Lectures and conferences
  • Seminars
  • Tutories
  • Talks
  • Updates on the opportunities offered by the different Universities

The topics of discussion include Philosophy (thought of classical and contemporary authors), actual scientific debate, humanities, religion and social problems; languages, painting, music, literature, sociology, psychology, the world of communication and other topics of cultural, human and current interest.

One of the goals of Mater Salvatoris has been to extend the formation beyond classrooms, and to prepare the students to be ferment of a positive change in society. This, by broadening their horizons, making them aware of different countries, places, people, cultures, as well as the different ways of life that have existed throughout history and world’s geography. For this purpose Mater Salvatoris offers:

  • National and international trips
  • Journeys to different places of historic and cultural interest
  • Mater Salvatoris’ Choir

Learning to enjoy and have fun is one of the challenges of today’s university student. That is why at Mater Salvatoris not everything is about studying. There is also room for celebration and rest, for sports and the development of creativity; for generosity in celebrating birthdays and family events of friends and companions. To this end, we offer our students:

  • Sports
  • Celebration of traditional festivals
  • Themed dinners
  • Bakery
  • Painting workshops
  • Music lessons
  • Theatre

“Dear young people… Don’t be observers, but immerse yourself in the reality of life, as Jesus did”. That was how Pope Francis addressed young people at the World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro. Mater Salvatoris wants to be an aid to them -our students, but also their friends and acquaintances- so that they can truly immerse themselves in life, aware that, as the Pope said on that memorable night on the beach at Copacabana: “Jesus offers us something bigger than the World Cup! Jesus offers us the possibility of a fruitful life, a life of happiness… and eternal life”. For this purpose, we offer the students:

  • Volunteering
  • Pilgrimages
  • Spiritual Exercises
  • Retreats
  • Holy Hours of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
  • Catechesis of Baptism and Confirmation for the studentsts who ask for it
  • Marian Congregation
